Xanh is a short film that explores clothing as a form of liberation. Xanh’s (they/them) mother is a seamstress who polices Xanh’s gender presentation through the creation of feminine clothes. As their mom continuously criticizes their wardrobe, Xanh experiences nightmares that push them to search for peace within their spirituality.

Director’s Bio
Sal Tran (they/them)
Sal Tran is a queer non-binary Vietnamese filmmaker and touring speaker based in Oakland, CA. Sal was raised in both Vallejo, CA and Los Angeles. Sal is one of the co-founders of SunKissed Productions, a multi-media independent film collective led by queer and gender non-binary, Asian-American artists. They are also the founder of a cooking web series called Lost in the Fish Sauce that aims to reclaim the journey of healing through spices and food.
Sal’s work is rooted in the power of storytelling and its ability to create, reclaim, and cultivate a space of growth, accountability, and groundedness. Their work has been featured in the East Bay Stonewall Democratic Association, AutoStraddle, San Francisco Transgender Film Festival, Hanoi International Film Festival, As[I]Am Magazine, University of Southern California - InspirASIAN, and many more.
